Carey will take over from Paul Hanns who has coached the Baggies for the past five years.
“I want to bring a new lease of life,” Carey said.
“Paul has done so well to show the boys what they need to do to get to the top level.
“We lost a lot of our premiership players before the season started, but we believe we have a good core.”
Joining the coaching team will be the Baggies’ 2015 best and fairest winner, Sean Mantell.
Mantell is another valuable player for the side and will take on an assistant coaching role to support Carey in his first year of coaching.
