The day commenced with the monthly meeting, which was held while the plants were being judged by members of the Orchid Society Council of Victoria judging panel, after which all present enjoyed a soup, pie and sweets meal provided by the club.
Guest speaker, Graeme Zerbe of Adelaide, then spoke on Australian native orchids growing in South Australia. This was a very informative talk and thoroughly enjoyed by all.
The remainder of the afternoon was spent admiring the beautiful orchids entered into the show.
Grand champion orchid of the Stawell Orchid Society Winter Show was an outstanding paphiopedilum proudly owned by Anne Gardiner. This plant also won Champion Paphiopedilum and best plant by a division one grower,
Reserve champion orchid, a Bulbophyllum, was owned by Bernadette and Michael Matthews, while best plant by a division two grower, was cymbidium 'tracyanum' owned by Barry Proctor.
