Member for Mallee Andrew Broad has welcomed the inclusion of a number of initiatives in the paper, which he says reflect on the feedback provided by many farmers in the Wimmera and Mallee.
"The Free Trade Agreements are undoubtedly a good thing for our farmers, as they create opportunities for export,” he said.
“However, they are only beneficial if farmers can navigate through the processes. Therefore, the announcement that $30.8 million is being dedicated to breaking down the technical barriers to trade and to providing five Agriculture Counsellors to facilitate better trade access, is pleasing."
Mr Broad said moves to further enhance Australia's credibility for biosecurity would be another boost to trade, as the demand for quality produce increases.
