OUTGOING president Brenda Clark welcomed guests to the eighty-seventh annual general meeting of the Stawell Hospital Auxiliary.

Mrs Clark reported that during the year, the auxiliary welcomed Jenny Sharp, Doreen Duffy and Liz Konig as members and said goodbye to Bev Lovelace.
"In September we unfortunately saw the passing of one of our loyal members Norma Ridd who joined the auxiliary in 2005, Norma with her gentle nature was ever ready and willing to assist and is sadly missed," Mrs Clark said.
"Also in November we said goodbye to Lorraine Rowe who after nearly 20 years of dedicated service to the auxiliary, retired so she and husband Ray could enjoy travelling around with their new camper van. We wish them well and thank Lorraine for her years of support."
The year has been a busy one for fundraising starting in May 2014 with a casserole luncheon, then September with a wonderful fashion parade supported by our local fashion houses.
In October members attended International Volunteers Day at the nursing home and assisted at a half marathon run by the hospital at North Park.
A garden party in October was held at the home of member Jenny Sharp on a very hot and windy day. The auxiliary is grateful to Jenny and husband Peter for their hospitality.
The Christmas Dinner at Trackside was the final event for 2014 which was very enjoyable. The 2015 fundraising kicked off in March with the ever successful Wine and Savoury Evening. In May, the auxiliary assisted the Y-Zetts by providing sponges and dozens of biscuits for a Rotary function.
With money raised from these successful functions, the auxiliary was able to provide funds to the hospital to purchase ten Temporal Scanner Thermometers plus two head section models for staff training.
Also purchased were a number of items for the nursing home: an ice making fridge, a buffet cabinet and a chicken coupe for the residents.
Following Mrs Clark's address, the election of office bearers took place, with Doreen Bibby elected president, a role she has successfully undertaken previously.
