Swifts suffered a 202-point loss at the hands of an undefeated Laharum which has left their reputation bruised and battered heading into the second half of the year.
Coach Paul Hanns instilled discipline into his players and at times punished them for a lack of effort in recent weeks when they hit the track on Tuesday night.
"We were outclassed, but there are no excuses for playing a game like that," Hanns said.
"As a group we have been almost punished at training with plenty of running."
Hanns always had plans to reinforce some fitness training midway through the season, but with a couple of unexpected results has forced the issue.
"It was just a bit of disciplinary training," Hanns said.
"We needed to push through a bit of pain so we can work a bit harder. We needed to know that the amount of effort and standard of football just wasn't acceptable."
Injuries will again be a concern for Swifts as they lose Jakob Davis to a hamstring strain and Damien Smith to a knee injury.
Swifts are looking at flights to fly in Darwin recruit Tim Friend who has played just two games this season.
Friend provides Swifts with some much needed leadership out in the middle and is a presence in the forward line.
Scott Carey is a possibility to return after several weeks on the sidelines due to an ankle injury.
Carey was put through his paces last night during a fitness test and training with the main group and was waiting to see how he pulled up before he was selected to return.
"Scott will only play if he is 100 percent on the day," Hanns said.
"We will not be taking any risks with him."
Josh Davis will most likely make his senior debut after Hanns decided against him playing against Laharum.
"We want to ease him into senior football," Hanns said.
"To play him against the best in Laharum just wouldn't have been fair on him. We are confident he will come in against Quantong and play his role."
Davis has been in good form with a best on ground performance in the under 17 games on the weekend as well as a second best on ground performance in the reserves.
Davis will be a likely starter on a half forward flank.
Noradjuha Quantong will have players to watch with Jordan Huff holding down their forward line and Jason Kerr running riot on a wing.
Swifts will no doubt decide on match ups for both players with Damon Folkes' name again thrown around.
Swifts as a unit will look to lock the ball in and be more defensive to limit the Bombers scoring opportunities.
