Natte Bealiba played their usual style of football, making it a hard tightly contested game of football.
Navarre never succumbed to the pressure of Natte, but the added pressure certainly affected their ball use and decision making.
Coaching panel member Louis Hannett described the game as an arm wrestle, but was happy to see him team take the points.
"It was pretty tight and congested but that is how they play football," Hannett said.
"It was certainly an arm wrestle and at times scrappy, but we are happy to come away with a win."
Brent Flood was the best of the Navarre players, as he lacked height in defence.
Despite being undersized he easily defeated his opponent to get the ball moving in the right directions for the Grasshoppers.
Daniel Reading also impressed for his efforts in the middle of the ground as he won the contested ball despite the crowded stoppages.
For Natte Bealiba they needed midfielders Zac Perez and Stephen Ross to stand up, but their quiet games had an impact on the rest of the team.
Navarre were able to extend their lead by one goal at every break and while the game felt like it was within reach Navarre eventually won by 19 points.
"We never really kicked away," Hannett said.
"We held our three to four goal buffer at the end, but we just gained a goal at each break."
With the increase in pressure the scoreboard was slow and steady with Navarre's Ash Driscoll the best of the forwards with three goals.
Driscoll received a knock to the head which saw him leave the ground with concussion.
He will be put through a fitness text this Thursday to see whether he plays or not.
Navarre won 8.10.58 to Natte Bealiba's 4.15.39.
Natte Bealiba had more scoring opportunities than Navarre, but their conversion in front of goal was poor.
Other Navarre players who featured in the best were Sam Kaye, Bryce Tickner, Jayden Fowkes and Hannett.
Navarre will be looking forward to playing a more polished brand of football this weekend when they take on Dunolly.
