The taskforce is a key component of the Andrews Labor Government's $21.9 million landmark plan to create local jobs and secure Stawell's future.
Ms Pulford said the plan would boost international exports, create 440 local jobs and put the town at the cutting edge of scientific research.
"Today marks the start of an exciting new chapter for the Stawell community, which will create jobs, grow the local economy and possibly even provide the next big scientific discovery," Ms Pulford said.
Key components include the completion of the Grampians Peak Trail, $1.75 million to kick-start a particle physics laboratory at the Stawell Gold Mine and $500,000 to expand the Frewstal Lamb and Sheep Processing Plant.
Minister Jacinta Allan said the plan would assist the Stawell and wider Northern Grampians community get back on its feet following the closure of the Stawell Gold Mine after 30 years of operation and an increase in local unemployment.
"The Andrews Labor Government has made job creation a priority and the Stawell Jobs Taskforce is part of our plan to get Victoria back to work," Ms Allan said.
Business and community leaders from across the Northern Grampians attended the first Taskforce meeting to discuss strategic investment in key industries that will drive economic and jobs growth in the region. The Taskforce is supported by the Northern Grampians Shire Council.
Member for Western Victoria, Gayle Tierney said she too welcomed the launch of the new jobs taskforce for Stawell.
"Under the previous Coalition Government, regional communities such as Stawell went backwards," Ms Tierney said.
"We're working hard to turn that around and make sure Stawell has a bright future."
