While there is plenty of hype and anticipation going into the clash for the Anzac Trophy, new coach Andrew Bach is just worried about the game of football itself.
As a new coach in the Mininera League, Bach was unaware of any rivalry between the two clubs and had chosen to ignore the talk.
"It is unknown territory for me. I don't have a rivalry that has built up over the years," Bach said.
"It will just be another game for me and the new players at the club. You can't look too much into all the hype and that kind of thing. You just have to play football."
With both teams still winless after two rounds, there will be plenty at stake and Bach knows all too well how important this win is.
Great Western will go into the match as favourites despite having little to boast about up until now.
"It will come down to who wants it the most," Bach said.
"I'd like to think we want it, but we have to be able to use the ball better than we have in previous games."
Great Western are currently in a rebuilding stage where the structure and game plan has changed and the players are slowly adapting.
At both Tuesday's session and training last night, Bach emphasised the need to teach the players the basics and stay positive.
"We just need to really stick together and do what we know," Bach said.
"Hopefully we can come out on top. We have to win it."
Bach was forced to make more changes to the team last night with eight players out for Sunday's match.
While Great Western will go in a long way off full strength, the juniors who stepped up last weekend certainly held their own.
Ararat has had two big losses to get their season started, losing to Moyston Willaura and Lismore Derrinallum.
The game gets underway from 2.20pm at Great Western Recreation Reserve on Sunday.
