They return on April 3,4 and 5, staging their annual autumn Shakespeare, an exciting new production 'As you like it', Shakespeare's most exhilarating comedy.
'As you like it' is Shakespeare's enthralling exploration of love. Set in court and country, it is a tumultuous journey of deception and desire, rivalry and romance, pathos and parade of wit.
This year marks OZACT's twentieth anniversary performing Shakespeare in the great outdoors.
The company has earned much acclaim for producing Shakespeare in some of Southern Australia's most spectacular outdoor locations, including Loch Ard Gorge, the Grampians and Naracoorte Caves.
OZACT, together with the support of Northern Grampians Shire Council, have performed Shakespeare in the Grampians each year for the last nineteen years and have brought to life many of Shakespeare's classics including, King Lear, Macbeth, Romeo & Juliet, Much ado about nothing, A midsummer nights dream, Twelfth night and last year Hamlet.
Heatherlie Quarry is a spectacular feature of the Grampians National Park, nestled beneath the rugged twin peaks of Mt Difficult, a magical area of sheer rock faces, historic stone buildings and dramatic mountain scenery.
The architectural and natural elements of the setting provide a perfect setting for Shakespeare's greatest works.
An impressive cast has been gathered for this production, with experienced actors and talented performers drawn from Ballarat, Melbourne and regional Victoria.
The production is directed by Bruce Widdop.
The cast includes Simon Alderman, Jessica Chapman, Jayden Chivers, Lisa Dallinger, Andy Delves, Bart Harrowell, Seton Pollock, Eleanor Ruth, Marie-Claire Tchernomoroff, Patrick Tucker, Matthew Young with production and design support from Lisa Widdop.
OZACT Director Bruce Widdop said this production is a wonderful introduction to Shakespeare, to OZACT's unique brand of outdoor production, and to one of Victoria's most spectacular locations.
He invited audiences to bring a rug, cushion, and someone you love, or a whole group of people you love, and escape to the fantastical Forest of Arden to share with courtiers and country-folk, philosophers and clowns the camaraderie, and comedy, trials and triumphs of love As you like it'.
