Canadian musicians Gordie MacKeeman and His Rhythm Boys and Australian sister-duo Siskin River are teaming up for a live performance at the Glenorchy Hall on Wednesday, March 11.
Gordie and Co were last in Australia only 12 months ago for a string of Australian festivals including Woodford and Sydney Festival. Their amazing live show has taken them all over the world, perhaps most notably to WOMAD, Glastonbury and a rainforest festival in Malaysia.
Northern Grampians Shire Mayor Cr Murray Emerson said council was thrilled to be welcoming Festival of Small Halls to the municipality.
"This is a renowned grass-roots tour that pairs a visiting international artist and a notable Australian folk group for shows in small towns and community halls," he said.
"The Festival of Small Halls Summer Tour concentrates on visiting towns where communities are strong, but may not have access to high quality musical acts due to their remote locations, or lack of a suitable venue.
"We are delighted that Glenorchy Hall has been chosen to host such a big event and I know our local communities will support it."
Festival of Small Halls is designed to show off the unique character of each community and the beauty and dignity of some of Australia's oldest community gathering places.
Tickets for the Glenorchy event are available for $25 (adults) or $20 (concession). Children 12 years of age and under are free. Tickets can be purchased online at www.festivalofsmallhalls.com, directly from the Glenorchy Hall or at council's municipal offices in Stawell.
