Leading the group away Francis was able to set the pace from the beginning and was able to hold on to defeat ever green cycling veteran Kevin Grellet.
Grellett was in the lead group beside Francis, but was unable to keep up in the final stages.
Scratch riders Jason Shipcott, Ottis Francis, and Sean Prinns worked hard to impact the final results, however fell short by a mere 10 metres.
Ararat's Shipcott recorded the fastest time and finished in fourth spot.
Rounding out the top three placings was Frank Kean.
Riders had the privilege of riding in near perfect riding conditions.
