What better place to be than beautiful Pomonal! For the many visitors to our region as well as locals, the market - held at Pomonal Village Hall on the last Sunday of every month, from 10am-2pm - though small, is vibrant and just bursting with treasures which invariably don't cost much.
What's more, the majority of things are locally grown or created by regional folk. You'll find a variety of plants, as well as herbs and heritage vegetable and flower seeds. Then there are home-baked nut loaves, tasty biscuits and slices, and sweets such as toffees and fudges, delicious carrot cupcakes, sausage rolls and mini pizzas, an interesting, tempting variety to choose from.
Then there's a marvellous variety of gemstones and jewellery, delicately carved jewel boxes, antique kero' lamps, pre-loved women's clothing, lacy, floaty shawls and scarves and accessories.
There's also fresh local fruit and vegetables, bric a' brac, vintage china and glass, gorgeous handmade greeting cards, fresh-smelling natural soaps, hand-blown glass objects, fresh free range eggs, Beerenberg products such as jams and honey, as well as various delicious salamis and polish sausage.
Visitors will also find handspun English Leicester yarn, fleece and garments, spectacular costume jewellery, thousands of books, also CDs and tapes, children's clothes, toys, lucky dips, all sorts of secondhand goods, pre-loved jigsaws, vintage LP records and much more.
Then when famished after browsing and shopping, the tasty, low cost morning and afternoon teas and lunches will really appeal. And try the hall fundraising sausage sizzle outside too. Often the simple things in life are more appealing.
Our newest stallholder, Erin Freeland, will especially appeal to mothers and grandmothers of babies. A mother of small children herself, she will show you how to save $1000s, with amazing 'Bubeez' modern cloth nappies, that eliminate the need to buy expensive, so-called 'disposable' nappies. She also has swim nappies, special uniquely- designed nappy bags, liners and boosters that will make life so much easier.
Erin also has environmentally-friendly 'feeding necklaces' to distract the fidgety baby. Why not come and meet Erin, sampling the simple pleasures of life at Pomonal Market while you're at it?
