On the back of their premiership win this year and an extended season Swifts were late getting back into the swing of things.
Swifts are yet to make their training compulsory, but intend to do so following their Christmas break.
Coach Paul Hanns is settling into the job on his own again after two seasons of sharing the top job with Ben Martin.
"Training has been very light so far," Hanns said.
"We haven't made any of the sessions compulsory because we know people have commitments prior to Christmas."
Swifts have had a quiet off season in terms of recruiting with assistant coach Adam Leslie the only new face at present.
Leslie has been working overtime trying to find some recruits that may help Swifts in 2015.
Leslie himself has looked in good form on the track and is impressing Hanns.
"He is itching for round one and so are we," Hanns said.
"He will be very influential for us throughout the season."
After meeting just a handful of players, Leslie looks to be adapting well to his new surrounds. However with numbers being low there are a number of players that still haven't met him.
Similar to earlier this year Hanns will put a lot of responsibility on the leadership group to get an early training squad together.
Led by captain Scott Carey, Swifts had good numbers training regularly from early January and Hanns still believes that strong preseason was a big part of their success.
"There will be more responsibility on our leadership group come January to try get the numbers up and pull everyone together," Hanns said.
Hanns is expecting his charges to continue with their aerobic work over the break so they don't go backwards in terms of fitness.
"They need to realise if we work hard from January onwards we can be competitive again."
