The Concongella fire was ignited on Saturday morning and provided police with enough evidence to finally charge Andrew Briggs, 47, who appeared in the Ballarat Magistrates Court yesterday.
The arrest of Briggs brings to a close, a two year arson investigation by Ararat Crime Investigation Unit detectives.
Briggs, of Great Western, was charged with 23 counts of intentionally cause a bushfire and one count of light a fire on a total fire ban day, dating back to 2008.
Briggs was charged with seven offences at Concongella from October-December 19, while other alleged incidents occurred at Great Western from 2009-2014 and Stawell from 2013-14.
Briggs made no application for bail and was remanded to reappear at the Ballarat Magistrates Court on January 19.
