Wildcats were a class above the less experienced Taipans, but it took some time to show through.
In the early stages Stawell were winning, but the game looked average from the sidelines.
Coach Ben Leslie decided to lift their intensity and their defence by playing a full court press and it paid dividends as they outscored Taipans 32-9 for that quarter alone.
Wildcats had produced a 30 point buffer heading into the main break, but Taipans were able to regroup at half time and play decent basketball in the remaining quarters.
Joel Freeland continued his consistent year scoring freely with 21 points to be just one of five players who made double figures on the night for Stawell.
Dan Cavanagh, Michael Hackwill, and Rory Jones each score 10 points and Jarred Ohayon scored 16.
Each player scored making it an impressive team performance.
"Everyone had their time to shine," Leslie said.
"I was able to share the court time a bit more after that second quarter."
The second quarter led to the win which finished up at 56-88.
It was Wildcats second win of the season after they defeated Timboon at Stawell in round three.
"To win by 32 points in this league is a good win," Leslie said.
"It was a credit to Timboon how they fought back. It is a tough league, but they will get a win soon."
Timboon teenager Alex Lees led the scoring for the home team with 20 points and was assisted by Sam Cunnington with 16 points.
Stawell will now turn their focus to tomorrow night's game when they meet Horsham in Horsham.
Both the ladies and men will play with tough games expected across the board.
The lady Wildcats will go into the game without Rhi Davis who is the coach and one of their leading scorers.
Last time they met Horsham dominated Stawell winning by 63 points.
On the back of a close match against Portland two weeks back they will be hoping for a better result this time around.
