Stawell went through the competition undefeated as they soundly defeated Horsham 38-6, Naracoorte 48-8 and Portland 27-4 before taking Portland on again in the grand final.
Most of the team were playing in their first tournament let alone their first final so some nerves were expected.
Stawell started slowly in comparison to their earlier games, but were able to run away from their opponents in the final minutes to win 22-14.
Madi Taylor was the best performed player of the weekend leading the scoring in both games against Portland.
Tahlia Marrow was in her first representative tournament and was solid in defensive, keeping Portland's strongest player scoreless.
Each of the girls contributed in their own way throughout the weekend pleasing their coach.
Richard Hackwill coached the under 12 boys and with no tournament experience they were able to defeat Hamilton 28-24 in an exciting second game.
A spot in the grand final was up for grabs when they took on Terang, but they were overawed by their opposition.
After a difficult first half Stawell matched Terang point for point in the second period.
Stawell were able to finish their weekend on a winning note defeating Horsham in the consolation final 22-19.
The under 14 girls had the hard task of being thrown together only last weekend at the request of Horsham when they were one team short.
They won two of their four games with their 29-21 victory over Hamilton (2)in the consolation final the best result.
In the under 14 boys Stawell were able to record just one win.
Their victory came against Portland 31-24.
The boys were able to show poise and control under some immense pressure.
Under the watchful eye of coach Ben Leslie they showed vast improvement over the weekend.
Everyone involved with the under 16 boys would have seen what a huge asset Rob Chapelle is to the Stawell Wildcats Basketball Association.
Unfortunately they were unable to get a win on the board, but a nailbiting 31-36 loss to Terang certainly proved they are thereabouts.
The under 16 boys were the only Stawell team to play in the highest division making their results more impressive.
