For most of the week, online betting agency Sportsbet has had the Liberals at $5.50 odds to provide the next Premier of Victoria while Labor has looked a sure thing at $1.13.
The story is the complete reverse in the key election battleground of Ripon where a Coalition candidate is at short odds of $1.10 to claim the seat with Labor sitting well back at $6.
Centrebet paints a similar but closer picture with the Coalition at $1.34 odds, while Labor is still behind at $3.
Political pundits could be forgiven for thinking the Ripon result will be much closer than forecast, but needless to say the odds give The Nationals' candidate Scott Turner and Liberal Party's Louise Staley something to smile about.
High levels of pre poll votes mean it could be Monday before the people of Ripon have any clear indication of who will represent the region for the next four years.
