Club members have become a familiar sight each Melbourne Cup Day as they ask punters to spare a few coins to assist cancer research via the Cancer Council of Victoria.
Organiser Peter Martin said the club members looked forward to the appeal each year.
"The Stawell public expects to find us there each year and is happy to donate spare coins to assist the Cancer Council in its important work," Mr Martin said.
"We know there are many calls for assistance from deserving causes, but we hope the public will make a special effort for us this year," Mr Martin said.
"We are aiming for a target of $800 this year. With the usual generous response from the public, we are confident of achieving this amount. Look out for us on Cup Day."
Lions Club members will be on duty at the Town Hall Hotel and Trackside Tabaret from 9am until the race is run.
