For the last few months, recently inducted Akela, Laurynda Christodoulou has been leading her group of Cubs at the Powerhouse in Sloane Street.
Laurynda and long term local scouting leader Jeff Parsons conduct Cubs each Wednesday evening from 6.00pm - 7.30pm.
Now they are hoping lots more children might like to come and join in.
Tomorrow afternoon from 5pm to 8pm, the First Stawell Scouts and Stawell Neighbourhood House are conducting a come and try night.
Scouts and Scout leaders from all over the district, Horsham, Ballarat and Melbourne will be at Powerhouse to tell children about Scouting.
Children can come to try the Scout abseiling tower which is being brought up from Melbourne. There will be a jumping castle, face painting and lots of other traditional Scout games and activities.
There will be free food - pizza, party pies for the kids and barbecue and salad for the parents.
Parents will be invited to meet leaders from Scouts Victoria and hear about the many options for children and youth to get involved in Scouting here in Stawell. An information session for parents will be conducted as part of the family fun night tomorrow, at 6.30pm.
Joey Scouts is for children ages 6 - 7, Cub Scouts age 8 - 10, Scouts age 10 - 14, Venturer Scouts age 14 - 17, Rover Scouts age 17 - 25.
First Stawell Scouts are also looking for people who might also be interested in becoming leaders or supporters of Scouts through membership of a local support committee.
There will be lots of people in uniforms about on Wednesday evening for you to speak to about becoming involved in Scouts and a lot of fun activities to try out too.
For catering purposes, residents are asked to please RSVP by text with their name and how many people are attending the evening, to Ian Lock on 0408 501 866.
