I was in a Stawell shop. My mobile phone rang and I took the call. It involved a lot of listening.
I found the product I wanted. I went to the counter and stood to the side. I put the exact money on the counter. The man served other people, which was okay.
I heard him say something about scanning and wondered why, when there were no other customers, he wasn't scanning my article.
After a minute or two, I asked the person on the phone to hold.
The man then took my money and gave me a tongue lashing for being rude. The next time I want that article, there are half a dozen other shops in Stawell that sell it.
What happened to the customer is always right? What happened to service with a smile?
The man didn't have to leave the counter to help me. I let him serve other customers before me. He didn't have to tell me the price. He didn't have to give me change. He didn't have to wrap the item. How rude was I? How rude was he?
