The bush and our gardens are alive with gorgeous colours and alluring aromas.
This coming Sunday, October 26, why not come out to Pomonal Hall, to the friendly Pomonal Village Market, where you'll find a most tempting display of plants, produce and numerous other wares to enjoy. The market runs from 10am to 2pm and would be a superb day to combine with a visit to the Grampians, which we locals sometimes take for granted.
There are lots and lots of good secondhand books, antique china and glassware, pre-loved CDs, records and tapes.
You will also find delicious slices, nut loaves, cakes, sausage rolls, mini pizzas, biscuits and sweets like fudge and toffee, fruit and vegetables, plants of many kinds, such as hardy natives including callistemons, banksias and grevilleas, as well as bush food plants, herbs and a vast array of heritage seeds.
Also available will be Berenberg jams, salamis and polish sausage of many varieties, honey, fresh eggs, jellies and sauces, handspun yarn, fleece, scarves, shawls, berets and hats, a breath-taking amount of costume-jewellery.
Items will also include bunches of native flowers, beautiful soft silky scarves, pashminas and accessories, hand-made greeting cards, hand-made, natural soaps, children's toys and clothes, pre-loved clothing and many more items including hand blown glassware.
You will no doubt meet up with some of your friends too, as you wander amongst the tables laden with goodies. The hall committee will have their fundraising sausage sizzle outside just near the front door.
Glenda Gliese will be on hand with home-grown, fresh vegetables and numerous varieties of advanced tomato plants, including some you might not have heard of before. These are modestly priced and hardy. It's time to get your tomatoes in the ground so why not come and see what beautiful plants Glenda has. You'll find her stall outside, near the oval.
Also, a light, inexpensive lunch in the hall, catered for by Jacki and Tanya won't cost a bomb. You can chill out with friends or relatives over a cuppa or cool drink too.
