Launched in Melbourne in late September by Minister for Youth Affairs the Hon. Ryan Smith, the publication Inspiring Stories by Young Victorians shares the personal stories of 60 young Victorians who have participated in government supported or initiated programs over the past four years.
Ms Dempsey was invited to share her story about chairing the Youth Action Council which is funded through the Engage! program, and said it was an honour to be part of the publication.
"I was really pleased to be able to share not only my personal journey but the entire process that we've been through with the YAC," she said.
"We've been in such a unique position, starting our group from nothing with the help of the Engage! funding so it's been great to be able to share what we've learnt with others and help similar groups get up and running around the state."
Mayor Kevin Erwin also attended the launch and said it was pleasing to see young rural people recognised at the state level.
"We're very proud of the Youth Action Council and how far they've come since we first received the funding to start the group. To see Lauren recognised for her contribution was fantastic," he said.
"The group's Youth Strategy will be officially launched later this week and we're looking forward to seeing where that takes them. The group has already achieved a great deal in the past 18 months and this document will only enhance their opportunities."
