Agricultural and General Aircraft (AGA) Services has taken possession of the six seater plane and will call on it when needed during the summer bushfire season.
AGA Services Managing Director, Rob Boshen said the addition of the aircraft adds to its existing fleet at the Stawell Hangar.
"This aircraft will assist us mainly with our fire work, it will act as passenger transport for firefighters, seating up to six at any one time," he said.
"The Turbo Commander complements our older reconnaissance aircraft."
Mr Boshen said compared to the older planes the air-conditioned aircraft has more room in the cockpit and cabin for observation.
"There is a much improved take off and landing performance and a faster cruise speed, this aircraft can fly half as fast again on top of the speed the originals fly," he said.
The aircraft will undergo a final fit out before it is available for use in any bushfire fight from October.
Aircraft have been used in Australia to suppress bush fires for many years and AGA Services has been at the forefront of the industry during this time.
The company has maintained a relationship with National and State fire agencies continuously for many decades and taken part in continuous improvement and innovation of aircraft, equipment and systems to deliver the most cost effective and efficient solutions.
