The cause is close to home for event organiser Amy Kindred. Her daughter Annabelle was born seven weeks premature in 2011.
Annabelle, who was treated in the Ballarat Base Hospital's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is now a picture of health and will turn three in November.
All funds raised from the ride, run or walk on Sunday, November 16 will go towards the Ballarat Base Hospital Special Care Nursery, the only servicing pregnant mothers and their babies in the region.
In the lead up to the event Ms Kindred will be present at Shop 108 in Main Street Stawell on Friday, September 19 between 10.30am and 2.30pm to provide people with information about the fundraiser.
"Come on down and buy a raffle ticket, a cupcake and register your spot in the MBM ride, run or walk for premature babies," she said.
"I will be there to answer any questions people may have about the event and hopefully raise a bit more money for this amazing cause."
On that day interested residents will be placed into a raffle with first prize a trailer load of fire wood and second prize a hamper.
As part of the major fundraising event in November participants will be given the choice of a 20 kilometre track or family-friendly five kilometre track.
Designed to suit everyone, the 20 kilometre track will be open to not only runners, but also bike riders and horse riders.
The lengthy track will take riders and runners through the beautiful vineyards in Great Western and will give them stunning views of properties and the picturesque Grampians.
The five kilometre track is only open to people wanting to walk or run. That course will be accessible by pram and children will be welcome to bring along their bikes.
Sign up for the 20 kilometre event will open at 7am on the day with a start time of 9am. Sign up for the five kilometre event is at 9.30am for a 10.30am start.
After completion of the courses there will be a barbecue lunch to be followed in the afternoon by live music, a jumping castle and other fun activities for people of all ages.
Talented band, Swift Revenge has very kindly donated its time and skills to play for everyone who attends the event. A blind auction and raffle will finish the day.
Ms Kindred said businesses have been more than responsive to requests for support, sponsoring the event and providing prizes for on the day.
"Thank you everyone for your ongoing support. It is going to be a massive day that will suit everyone in the family so please get behind it and register to enter," she said.
"Let's all get together and raise money and awareness for this amazing cause."
