As the final siren sounded at Horsham City Oval hundreds of dedicated supporters decked out in teal, black and white flocked to the centre of the oval to celebrate with their jubilant heroes.
The emotion of the players had erupted and the tears of happiness were flowing.
Going into the grand final the Baggies were given little hope against the undefeated Laharum, but their supporters always gave them a chance.
When Brett Hargreaves was able to win the first ruck tap of the day, it turned to disappointment when the ball went down the throat of Laharum and inside 50 metres to youngster Angus Martin.
Martin, who has played only a few games for Demons this season due to Ballarat Rebel's commitments, converted and within 30 seconds the grand final scoring was underway.
Hargreaves was again the winner in the next centre ruck contest and this it was to one of his own. Swifts cleared the ball and for the first time entered their attacking zone.
In a two on three marking contest Ben Martin was able to bring the ball to ground to find the running Richard Thomas, who goaled from 30 metres out.
The pressure of grand final day was evident in the opening quarter with bodies being put on the line and the disposal efficiency down on previous weeks.
Swifts were the first to get consecutive goals when Paul Hanns intercepted a Demons kick in and found Julian Carr in the goal square.
Following the Carr goal, Hanns broke through the middle of the ground and released the ball to Carr, who found Zach Salmi out in front. Salmi was able to keep his hands out in front and was rewarded with a free kick allowing him to goal and give Swifts a six points lead.
Laharum scored again and despite Swifts having several opportunities to increase their score they were unable to do so and Laharum led by a point at the first break.
In the second term Swifts appeared overly aggressive turning some of the mutual crowd against them and firing up the Demons fans.
Josh Molan found himself in the sin bin when he received a yellow card for a head high tackle on Sam Winfield.
Brent Hargreaves laid a late bump on Jason Przabilla giving away 50 metres and allowing the big forward two goals in two minutes.
After the opening half of football Ricky Whitehead loomed as the danger man for the Swifts.
The teams were still evenly poised at half time with the one point margin still in place.
During the half time break Laharum coach, Shannon Argall had identified Whitehead as the difference and aimed to limit his influence in the second half.
Swifts coaches Ben Martin and Paul Hanns were much more reserved in their rooms.
Swifts came out all guns blazing in the third quarter with quick goals from Justin Thomas, Ben Martin and Paul Hanns.
Throughout the quarter the Demons had plenty of opportunities, but were unable to convert on the scoreboard making it their first goal less quarter for the season.
With a lead as big as 33 points mid-way through the final term, the Baggies were able to soak up the feeling of their first premiership in eleven years.
The final score was Swifts 15.5.95 defeating Laharum 10.6.66.
The umpires would have taken little time discussing the best on ground medal recipient, which went to Ricky Whitehead.
Whitehead looked to have time and space all day and even when Laharum did lay a finger on him he was able to shrug the tackle and dispose of the football.
The Swifts premiership ended the club's centenary year in style after winning a premiership in their inaugural season in 1914.
In the words of many from around the Horsham City Oval - 'Up the Baggies'.
