RESIDENTS are being invited to attend the launch of 'The Gold Mines of Stawell - A Pictorial History' by Greg Cameron this Sunday.

The book gives a history of gold mining in the Stawell and Deep Lead areas from its beginnings in 1853 to 1939.
It also has a chapter on historic underground workings found by Stawell Gold Mines.
The book has 266 pages, 327 photos (many of which have never been seen before), art works and maps.
Copies of the book will be on sale at $30 per book after the official launch which will take place at 1.30pm this Sunday at the Old Court House, 46 Longfield Street, Stawell.
If you are unable to attend the launch, the books will be on sale from the Stawell Historical Society (Pleasant Creek Court House), 46 Longfield Street, Stawell from Tuesday, September 16.
The Stawell Historical Society is open Tuesdays to Thursdays between 10am - 5pm. Alternatively you can phone Greg Cameron on 5358 3034 at nights or weekends.
Residents need to notify organisers of their intention to attend by this Thursday, September 11 via post office box 133, Stawell, 3380.
