STAWELL residents have been shocked by the suspected poisoning of the Beaton family's pet dog, three-year-old purebred Weimaraner, Keira.
Ashley Beaton said the loss of their pet and the circumstances in which the death occurred has left their three young children (aged nine, seven and four) inconsolable.

The Beatons have filed a report with Stawell police, who are now investigating.
A CAMPAIGN aimed at securing the funding required for the continuation of the Western Highway duplication project through to Stawell, will be launched in Ararat today.
The Don't stall - fund to Stawell campaign, an initiative of the Western Highway Action Committee, is calling on state and federal governments to come up with the $500 million required to complete the duplication to Stawell.
THE STATE Government has announced significant funding for upgrades at Stawell’s Cooinda and Marrang Kindergartens.
Minister for Children and Early Childhood Development, Wendy Lovell said $10,000 in funding would be allocated towards a major upgrade of Cooinda's bathroom facilities, which have been in use since the 1970s.
A grant allocation of $6000 was also announced for an upgrade at the Marrang kindergarten.

The former Stawell Warriors and Swifts premiership coach, replaced Nick Thomas, who resigned at the completion of the 2014 season.

PROJECT Platypus Upper Wimmera Landcare will be giving away free trees as part of Landcare Week this week.
The free trees will be up for grabs outside Shop 108 in Main Street, Stawell, this Friday between 9.30am and 2pm.
