Taurau took the trophy home with a total of 19 votes just one vote clear of runner up and teammate Jarrod Illig.
After a strong season at centre half back, Taurau was able to poll in seven rounds with five of them being the maximum three votes.
Warriors have had a strong season in the under 17s, winning 13 of their 16 games and finishing second on the ladder.
Taurau showed a touch of class through the middle part of the season polling ten votes in four rounds.
Those rounds were from eight to 11 and coincided with teammate Jarrod Illig's absence.
Illig, who missed three rounds due to the South Pacific All Stars Cup, polled in eight of his nine games at the junior level as well as playing seven senior games.
Illig finished the year strongly, polling in every match since his return.
It was a nervous wait for Taurau at the vote count, leading by three going into the final round and knowing both players had played well in their final home and away game for the season.
Taurau failed to poll in the final round, but a second best on ground wasn't enough for Illig to share the title.
Both Taurau and Illig have some work to do now to try and get a taste of premiership glory.
Kasey Mornane was runner up in the under 13 netball league best and fairest on 25 votes.
Mornane was on 25 votes and the winner was on 28.
Mornane has had a great year with the under 13s as she also represented the Wimmera interleague team earlier this year.
