Legacy was charged with taking care of the wives and children of the servicemen who did not return home.
Legacy is indeed an iconic charity made up entirely of volunteers and totally reliant on donations for its funding.
Once again the appeal goes out to the people of Stawell and district to please buy a badge, pen or bear to help Legacy continue to support the war widows of all conflicts.
There are 70 widows in Stawell being cared for by eight active Legatees. All donated money is retained locally and not sent to any central fund.
Legacy collectors will be out and about selling the badges and other merchandise, as well as sitting outside Woolworths, Fisher's IGA and Stawell Lotto and Books next Thursday, Friday and Saturday morning.
