With record numbers of members and visitors attending the show, members of the Orchid Societies Council of Victoria (OSCOV) judging panel who presided over the event, said the quality of the plants entered was among the best they have seen at any show.

Several plants received OSCOV awards. Goulburn Valley Orchid Society Inc. was declared the overall winner, an outstanding achievement for the host club.

Mid-Murray Orchid Society's 'River Boat' theme display was voted the most creative display.

The Friday night dinner was thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended and the Saturday night dinner was equally successful with more than 230 people attending, an outstanding number for a Victorian Country Orchid Clubs Challenge dinner.

The Stawell Orchid Society Inc will meet at the Stawell Entertainment Centre in Main Street on Sunday to conduct its Winter Show.

Plants are to be entered between 10.15am - 10.45am to be judged at 11am by members of the OSCOV judging panel.

Steven Stebbing will be guest speaker for the day and will demonstrate how he grows his orchids at his new residence in Stanhope.

Mr Stebbing will also have orchids of all genera for sale. Members of the public are invited to attend and share in a free lunch of soup, pies and pavlova.
