Yes, the last Sunday of July is almost here. While it's been pretty chilly, the stallholders' warmth and friendliness will make you forget the cold.
With the rain we've had recently, be tempted by a wonderful array of plants of many varieties and seeds, especially vintage vegetable and flower seeds and interesting bush food plants.
Or if you're a bookworm, lose yourself amongst many hundreds of pre-loved books, as well as CDs, collectable LPs and tapes to find great music.
If you're interested, you'll find collectable china, glass and pottery. To appease your hunger, there's fresh fruit and vegetables, scrumptious home-made cakes, nut loaves, slices, biscuits, scones, fudge and toffees, salamis, honey, eggs, etc. and morning teas, afternoon teas and lunches are available in the hall. And there's the sausage sizzle that raises funds for the new hall. They won't cost a lot.
Also, check out the locally produced jams, jellies and sauces. If you're after clothes and accessories, there's heaps to choose from, including misty silk scarves, cosy hand-spun and commercially produced woollen gear just right for wintry weather. There will be lucky dips for the kids.
As well, there are plenty of beautifully made children's toys and clothes, handmade soaps of many types, greeting cards, costume jewellery to suit all budgets, Christian literature, and hundreds of other items too numerous to mention here.
Pomonal's Alison Bainbridge makes knitted, crocheted and beaded bracelets, necklaces, brooches, rings and earrings. These are pretty special.
Threading all the beads on wire first, she then uses ordinary knitting needles or crochet hook, incorporating the beads as she knits or crochets to make beautiful beaded and very wearable jewellery - art in its own unique way.
There are also children's necklaces, beaded book marks and glasses holders. She absolutely loves using gorgeous Swarovski crystal and glass beads, Czech glass and handmade South African ceramic beads, pearls and natural stones/gems to make her individual pieces.
Come and see an inspired Alison and everyone else at our next Village Market in the Pomonal Hall from 10am-2pm.
