Yarn Bombing/Graffiti Art is a type of street art that involves the use of colourful yarns, rather than chalk or paint.
The theme of this particular project is the Australian Daisy, as is the theme for the 2014 Pomonal Native Flower Show.
Alison Bainbridge is calling on anyone who would like to participate, to knit, crochet, macrame, felt, or sew patches that will be joined together to create a fun installation in a bush setting. If you can't make a patch, maybe you can donate some wool in greens, oranges and browns.
Woollen items that can be felted, or shade cloth, cable ties, or chicken/bird wire are also welcomed.
Alison invites residents to come along to a yarn bombing gathering. Invite family and friends to make a patch or two and send them in.
The group is looking for circles of any dimension, beginning in brown, then yellow, and edged with red.
Flower shapes of any colour and various shades of green leaves, patches in any shape or size in Grampians bush colours and natural shades, would all be appreciated.
There is a basket at Grampians General Store, Pomonal, for the public to drop off their creations or ring Alison to arrange collection. These items are needed by the end of August so that the installation is up before the Pomonal Native Flower Show held on the first week in October.
For more information, contact Alison on 0417 883 445 or attend one of the yarn bombing gatherings for a stimulating time.
