On Saturday July 26 at 1pm it will host a presentation from the State Library of Victoria, Victor Hugo: Les Miserables - From Page to Stage.
The presentation celebrates the development of Les Miserables from one of the greatest novels of the 19th Century into arguably the most successful and beloved stage musical of all time.
Senior Curator Tim Fisher will talk about the life and times of Victor Hugo, the writing of his great novel, and the many theatrical, film, illustrative and musical adaptations of Les Miserables that have been made over the last 150 years.
Mr Fisher will also give an insight into how an exhibition that takes you from 'page to stage' was made and how to write for exhibitions.
This coincides with the exhibition on display at the State Library Of Victoria featuring rare items from the collections of the Bibliothique nationale de France, Maison de Victor Hugo, Musace Rodin, Cameron Mackintosh Archive and others.
This exhibition is a world-first insight into the most popular French story of all time.
Just a day later between 2pm and 5pm why not join the local CWA ladies as they work on poppies for the 5000 poppies project?
As part of the 2015 Anzac Commemoration, the 5000 Poppies project will be 'planting' a field of more than 25,000 poppies in Federation Square, Melbourne.
This is intended to be a stunning visual tribute to Australian servicemen and women for more than a century of service in all wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations.
Stawell's CWA ladies are inviting all crafts people to participate in the meaningful and heartfelt project.
The poppies can be crocheted, knitted, felted or sewn from any materials. Any shade of red can be used and poppies should be no more than 15 cm in diameter.
There is no entry fee, contributors are just asked to provide their own materials. There is no barrier to involvement and no limit to the amount of poppies that can be submitted.
Sunday afternoon (July 27) will be a great opportunity for people to spend some time knitting or crocheting, having a chat, while sharing a cup of tea and scones.
Stawell library has poppy patterns and will continue to be a drop off point for poppies, which will be displayed on behalf of the CWA until they are delivered to Federation Square.
If anyone has any red and black wool or black buttons lying around they don't need any longer, please donate to the library and they will distribute them to Eventide Homes for residents to continue making poppies.
