A grade overcame a relatively slow start, where it led the bottom placed Burras by just five goals at quarter time, to win by a margin of 25 in the end 54 to 29.
Coach Rebecca Skrabl said the Rats were fairly lacklustre throughout the contest and would need to pick up their intensity in the coming weeks.
"It was probably a little bit unexpected, they came out pretty strong in the first quarter and we started a bit flat," she said.
"We just kept working away in the second and third quarters and opened up the gap in the end.
"It was actually a pretty flat game all round from everyone, we came off the court and although there was a fairly big margin in the end, it wasn't something we were really pumped about."
A positive out of the match was the performance of young gun Lauri Williamson, who was named best on court for her efforts at wing attack.
Williamson's creative passing to the goalies allowed the scoreboard to continue to tick over, with Megan Shea again in excellent touch netting 30 goals to bring her season tally to 382 32 higher than the league's next best shooter, Horsham's Georgia Duncan.
Shea and Duncan will lead the way for their respective teams at Alexandra Oval tomorrow, with the Rats hosting the Demons.
Horsham is yet to drop a match this season and issued Ararat with its only loss of 2014 by 18 goals in round five.
"The first round there were two of us sick and two injured, so I'm just enjoying the fact that we are going into this match with a full and uninjured side at this stage," Skrabl said.
"So based on that, you can't really judge the previous round because I think we did pretty well considering how many people were out.
"We know Horsham are going to hit us hard, so especially our drive out of defence is something we need to focus on and rebounding in defence because they have very strong goalies.
"Also the passing into the attacking third as well, because that's where we hit a problem last time."
Ararat's B grade was bolstered by the return of shooter Alice Laidlaw and defender Claire Harricks in last week's clash against the Burras, however it was without joint-coach Hannah Miller and midcourt player Maggie Alford.
The first quarter was a slow start for the Rats only scoring six goals to the Burras' nine, while the second quarter saw the visitors kick into action.
Ararat's passing improved which allowed it to out score Minyip/Murtoa by four goals to take the lead by halftime.
The Rats continued to work as a team in the third quarter and with several turnovers they were able to build momentum and move ahead by five goals at the final change.
The last quarter saw the Rats come out firing, determined not to let victory slip and with Harricks and Grace Malloy working as a united defence, they were able to shutdown the Burras' main shooter.
The defensive pressure created more turnovers, allowing Laidlaw to make good use of the ball and continue to put the Rats in front with the final score being 42 to 35 in Ararat's favour.
A strong team effort by the Rats' 17 and unders saw them claim a 15 goal victory over the Burras.
Georgia Flemming was the standout player with her best game for the season in goals, while Emily Borrelli was voted next best for her continued pressure over the ball and many turnovers.
The match was an important confidence booster for Ararat as it heads towards the business end of the season.
The 15 and under A Rats started off sloppy and didn't really improve until the final term where they upped the intensity to break away for a 35 to 19 win.
Best players went to Abbey Moar for a good four quarter effort where she continually came forward to the ball, while Larni Cain was also recognised for her efforts in defence.
The last time Ararat met the Burras in the 15 and under Bs it was the Rats who prevailed by nine goals.
Last Saturday saw the team improve on that performance with a 28-goal smashing, with Briony Cann passing strong down the court and positioning well at the ring.
Cann also moved well to create space, along with Lily Sewell who worked hard on the things she has been told at training and adapted well to positional changes.
The Rats' 13 and unders were firing from the first whistle, playing smart netball and doing the basics well.
Sharna Wilson was a dominant performer at wing attack and made lots of forward moves and passed beautifully into goals.
Racquel Scott was also impressive and looked right at home at goal attack, combining well with Sammy Briggs.
