Congratulations to the president of the Swifts Football-Netball Club, Robert Carey and his committee for the excellent weekend activities to celebrate the one-hundredth year of the Swifts Football Club
The Saturday match was very well organised with a great crowd, well catered for and the Anniversary jumpers combining the three eras of the Swifts a definite winner.
The Saturday night celebrations at the Town Hall was a sellout (great) the presentation was a credit to all involved. It was very professionally presented by M.C Anthony Redford, he did a great job keeping the evening timed to perfection as well, brief but informative (definitely the best I have attended within the Wimmera).
Chris Folkes, Trevor Skurrie and team did a wonderful job in combing the town in search of any club history, and memorably (previously lost in a fire). The display they put together was excellent.
To Peta Folkes and the Social Club it was a big weekend of catering for them, congratulations all, well done.
On behalf of the 1945 to 1969 (South Wimmera League) players and family representatives who were chosen as Swifts players of that era we thank that club for that privilege. I am sure players of the eras' selected with the Ararat and District Association and the now Horsham and District Association also express their thanks.
Now all that remains is for the current team to put in the extra effort a training required to win this year's Grand Final.
It would be great to have Swifts as Premiers in the Club's 100th year.
