Residents in the fire affected area had the option of retaining the money from the sale of the waste metal for themselves or donating the funds to a community organisation. As a result of the collection, $4000 was raised for community distribution.
The funds have been divided equally between the three local fire brigades, Laharum, Brimpaen and Dadswells Bridge along with BlazeAid, who spent a great deal of time in the community helping with re-fencing.
