Dr Castle, who practiced medicine in Stawell for 57 years before retiring in 2012 continues to contribute to the community in several ways.
Ms Staley is contesting the Western District electorate that covers Ararat and Stawell at the state election in November.
She has highlighted a funding commitment for the duplication of the Western Highway as something she will continue to fight hard to secure.
Another of the issues of concern for her is the day-to-day battle people face to get access to suitable and affordable technology.
Ms Staley's current roles include president of the East Grampians Health Service board, director of the Grampians Medicare Local and director of the food and environment unit at the Institute of Public Affairs.
She unsuccessfully sought preselection in Ripon at the 2010 election and has previously stood for the federal seats of Wannon, Casey and Menzies.
Ripon is currently held by retiring Labor MP Joe Helper. He became the electorate's representative in 1999.
Redistribution changes to Ripon's electoral boundaries to take in Donald and Wedderburn, is likely to push the seat further in favour of the Liberal Party at the state election on Saturday, November 29.
