CKS Swifts players in District team

Versatility was the key to Damon Folkes being selected in Horsham District Football League's interleague team.

Three CKS footballers will represent the Horsham District Football League tomorrow.

Three CKS footballers will represent the Horsham District Football League tomorrow.

Folkes, who has been named in the side on the interchange, is an up and coming player for the CKS Swifts and much like his team, has looked good in season 2014.

Horsham District League coach, Geoff Burdett, described Folkes as a valuable part of the team.

"He can play in any part of the ground, forward, back or midfield which makes him a very valuable player," Burdett said.

"He is a player who is on the way to being a good player within the league."

Folkes has a great long kick and will use that to his advantage on the weekend, wherever he is on the field.

Joining Folkes in the squad from CKS Swifts are Scott Carey and Aaron Chavasse.

Carey, who has represented Horsham District Football League in previous years, will play on the ball where he is encouraged to use his creative flare.

"Scott has shown good form going into this match," Burdett said.

"He has the ability to break the lines with his long left foot kick."

Carey is a player who has good disposal by both hand and foot and will run all day.

Making his debut for the league is defender Chavasse.

Burdett has mentioned the Swifts defender as a possibility to hold down the full back position.

Chavasse is a strong body who has a strong attack on the football.

He is a long kick of the football which seems to be a characteristic of several of the selected players in the Horsham District squad.

"He has also got good body strength that he can use in close contests with the forwards," Burdett said.

Swifts footballers will be well supported on the day with Shannon Argal, Brent Forsyth and the likes pulling on the same jumper.

Reigning league best and fairest winner, Edenhope-Apsley's Brent Christie, will also take the field tomorrow.

Horsham District Football League will battle it out with Heathcote Football League tomorrow afternoon at Horsham City Oval.
