The group has called the public meeting to discuss the Environment Effects Statement relating to the proposal by Stawell Gold Mines to open cut mine Big Hill.
The meeting is being held at the Stawell Entertainment Centre at 7.30pm.
Member of the Friends of Big Hill group, Wendy Melbourne is urging residents to attend Thursday night's public meeting.
"It is important residents attend this meeting as it is their final chance to receive guidance as to how to respond to the EES documents.
"We are concerned that residents may be a little intimidated by the enormity of the EES documents. We want them to be able to understand the the documents," she said.
Mrs Melbourne said there would be a number of issues discussed at the public meeting.
"If residents are unable to attend the meeting on Thursday night and wish to discuss the EES documentation they can contact me on 5358 5241."
