Ladies day is a popular fixture on the Australia Post Stawell Gift calendar and combines a fashion parade with children's activities and of course, the heats of the 2013 Australia Post Stawell Gift.
The highlight for fashion lovers is without a doubt the fashions on the field competition, which has continued to grow in popularity over the years, attracting record entries.
Entry to the fashions competition is free, with registrations being taken from 11.30am on Easter Saturday. Entries close at 3pm.
There are some great prizes up for grabs again this year, with the winner walking away with $1000 courtesy of Driscoll, McIllree and Dickinson, along with the Billie Jo Peterson memorial sash. Billie Jo Peterson, who tragically passed away in 2009 at the age of 26, was a former Fashions on the Field winner and a hugely popular athlete on the professional running circuit who was a regular Gift competitor.
Simone Perele French lingerie have sponsored second prize with a $200 gift voucher, while third prize is for $100, with hat of the day winner receiving $150.
Stawell Athletic Club is grateful for the sponsorship for Fashions on the Field.
The first 500 tickets holders through the gate will also receive a free glass of Grampians Estate wine as part of the Driscoll, McIllree and Dickinson Ladies Day.
Master of Ceremonies for the fashions will be Jules Zass from Power FM Radio in Ballarat. Sprint sensation and a previous winner of the Lady of the Day, Melissa Breen, will judge the fashions along with Ballarat Milliner Cecily David and the manager of Simone Perele, Monique Crawford.
Make up artists will also be on hand in the lead up to Fashions on the Field for touch up work if required.
Event organiser Joan MacPherson encouraged ladies and men to dress up on Saturday and enter the Fashions on the Field competition.
"It really is a lot of fun and there are some great prizes on offer," she said.
"Even if you don't enter fashions, there is plenty to see and do on ladies day.
"We are very grateful to all sponsors and to the local outlets for their support in the Fashions on the Field. The their autumn collections will be showcased from 2.45pm with a parade taking place in the Central Park grounds."
Mrs MacPherson encouraged families to get along to Central Park on Saturday and enjoy the spectacle.
"Although it's called 'ladies day' it really is a day out for the whole family," Mrs MacPherson said.
"There is also plenty to keep the children entertained throughout the day."
Children's activities include face painting and an opportunity to get up close with the animals in the Jamieson's Run Animal Nursery. Live music will be provided throughout the day and there will be a display by the Stawell Fire Brigade.
