STAWELL - The Stawell Gymnastics club has been named a finalists for the small club of the year award.
Victorian gymnasts, their families and club staff from the gymnastics community came together last week to celebrate the success and contributions of members across all gym sports at Gymnastics Victoria's inaugural family ball and awards night.
The winners of each award were presented in front of a large crowd including Australia's own Olympian and Commonwealth games medallist Monette Russo.
Monette is a World Championships bronze medallist, Commonwealth Games gold medallist and an idol of many gymnasts in Victoria.
Monette was a breath of fresh air to the event proceedings and took to the stage to present 32 awards to finalists and winners for individual and group achievements, coaching excellence, volunteer dedication and inclusion initiatives.
Four Stawell coaches and two committee members travelled to the gala night and were present to accept the awards.
Stawell were also finalists in the top club of the year, meaning they are now rated in the top three clubs in Victoria.
The CEO of Gymnastics Victoria, Mr Jamie Parsons visited the Stawell Gymnastic Club on Monday for a tour.
Both the awards and the visit are a great honour for the Stawell Gymnastics Club.
