The new operating hours will be as follows: Monday (closed), Tuesday 1-5pm, Wednesday (closed), Thursday 1-5pm, Friday 10am-12midday, Saturday 10am-5pm and Sunday 10am-5pm.
The changes mean the transfer station will be open three hours earlier on a weekend, from 10am instead of 1pm as it currently does and remain open until 5pm on both Saturday and Sunday.
To make up for the additional hours of operation at the weekend the station will be open an hour less during the winter period on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
The new operating hours came as a result of a community survey conducted by Northern Grampians Shire Council in September last year where residents indicated they would benefit from increased opening hours during weekends and peak periods.
In response, council decided that the Glenorchy Transfer Station would close while the hours of operation at the Stawell, Halls Gap and St Arnaud facilities would be altered to reflect site usage and provide residents with greater access to the service during times of high demand.
Stawell Transfer Station accepts general waste, compacted waste, commingled recyclables green waste, concrete, electronic items, mattress, clean, soil, scrap metal, motor oil, car batteries, tyres, gas bottles and DrumMuster.
New operating hours will come into force at the Halls Gap Transfer Station on May 1, while St Arnaud Transfer Station hours will change a month later on June 1.
