In a story published online this week at stawelltimes.com.au about the council's upcoming by-election, a poll asking readers whether or not the current council had lived up to expectations produced some surprising results.
By 3pm on Thursday, 80 per cent of respondents said council had either "definitely not" lived up to expectations since being elected in 2012, or indicated that they "expected more" from councillors.
Eight candidates are vying for just the one vacant position on council, created by the resignation of Cr Paul Russell in December.
This latest by-election has drawn unprecedented interest across the region for that one position, given the 2012 election saw nine candidates nominate for eight positions.
The ballot draw on Tuesday has resulted in the candidates being listed in the following order on the ballot sheet: Sam Haamid, Ross Clementson, Dean Thomas, Don Gardiner, Jason Hosemans, Graeme Anyon, Stephen Odgers and Barry Marrow.
Statements for all candidates will be available on the Victorian Electoral Commission website from Monday and will be included in the ballot material to be sent to every voter.
Ballot material will be sent to voters from Tuesday, 25 February.
