Hugh Stewart Classic another success

STAWELL - David Pearce has taken out annual Hugh Stewart Classic event at Stawell Golf Bowling Club.

The ever popular calendar event honours club legend Hugh Stewart.

Hugh Stewart at the age of 91 still participates in bowls from week to week.

The competition on the day was a two bowl triples event that saw 72 players from across Victoria take part.

David Pearce from Maryborough was triumphant with six wins 91 shots up, while runner up Max Smedley of Strathmore finished with five wins and 36 shots up.

Rounding out the top three placings was Ned Jenkins from Stawell with four wins 24 shots up.

Best nett scores on each hole went to Merv Dean, Jim Aitken, Max Gorham, Toby Egan, Kevin Duane and Peter Greenburger.
