Wildcat idea raised money for Stawell CFA

STAWELL - Stawell Brix Lady Wildcat player Rhi Davis has handed over a cheque to Stawell Fire Brigade captain, Tim Hughes to assist in the relief effort following the recent fires.

Rhi had the idea of setting a fine system in place for the Australia Day weekend trip for the Wildcats to the Portland and Warrnambool games.

Both the women and the men Wildcats wore red arm bands during the matches and players were fined for anything Rhi could think of really.

Warrnambool chipped in with $2 from every paying spectator and Stawell Wildcats Basketball Association matched the Warrnambool donation.

Rhi said she was delighted with the response and to be able to hand over a cheque for more than $600 raised from a weekend away was outstanding.

Accepting the cheque, Tim Hughes commented on the generosity of the Wildcats and said the Stawell CFA would be able to put the donation to good use.
