Mr Marrow has a long association with SRH including many years as a volunteer with the organising committee of the annual golf day fundraiser.
Mr Marrow said it was an honour to join the board and right now, the hospital was performing very well.
"To me, being a board member means ensuring that the hospital continues to run at 100 per cent and providing support to its CEO," he said.
"I've been learning a lot in this role already, particularly how things function at upper management level.
"It's great how all the board members bring something different to the table, bringing the whole group together."
Before retirement, Mr Marrow worked at Stawell Gold Mine and has extensive knowledge in Occupational Health and Safety and Risk Management and has joined the hospital's aforementioned sub-committee.
Mr Marrow is currently on the executive committee of the Stawell Athletic Club and was a NGSC councillor for four years.
He is a member of the local chapter of the Wildlife Arts Museum Australia and is on the board of the Wimmera Mallee Sustainable Alliance.
He is also a student mentor at Stawell Secondary College.
Board member of 15 years Howard Cooper has become the new president for 2013/14.
"The Stawell Hospital is an integral part of the community," Mr Cooper said.
"We're always striving to maintain our high level of service, while meeting the challenges of a constantly changing landscape.
"We can't always do this alone, so a big focus is to work with other similar sized organisations through Grampians Health Alliance and also with Ballarat Health Service as the regional hospital.
"We have recently had an additional oncologist and obstetrician and gynaecologist join the team at SRH as a result of our relationship with BHS."
The Glenorchy farmer has held many community volunteer roles during the past 40 years and is currently Group Officer for the Stawell CFA.
The Board of Management governs the way SRH runs at every level.
Other members include Karen Douglas (primary producer); Lynn Jensz (accountant); David Stanes (business manager); Peter Martin (retired school principal); Ross Hatton (retired chief executive); Joan Brilliant (business manager) and Rhian Jones (full time mum).
