This time last year, the club hosted a successful meeting on New Year's Day, which featured the Rachael McGrath (Gration) Memorial Pace Final, taken out by Amajorjo. Following the harness meeting, Laidlaw Park was transformed into an outdoor open air cinema for a special New Year's Day screening of Rin Tin Tin.
The movie night and the harness meeting proved a success and the club will be at it again next Monday, December 30, this time hosting a Community Day meeting at Laidlaw Park.
While not following in the footsteps of last year's open air cinema, the meeting next Monday will carry a significant theme, as it couples as a fundraising venture for the Stawell Interchurch Council and Stawell Interchurch Council Welfare.
Entry is free, but members of the public are being asked to make a gold coin donation, with all proceeds being donated to the charities.
There will be an eight race program next Monday, including the Stawell Farm Supplies Pace, Hygain Feeds Pace, Amcal Pharmacy Pace, Gold Reef Clothing Pace, Community Day Pace Final, Carey Covers Pace, Stawell Veterinary Clinic Vicbred Platinum Country Series Heat and the Stawell Windows and Glass Trotters Handicap.
As well as the eight race program, there will be activities for people of all ages, including face painting, kids showbags, go karts and a jumping castle. All children in attendance will receive a free sausage and drink, while a local band will be playing throughout the day.
Members of the public are urged to get along to Laidlaw Park next Monday, December 30 in support of the Stawell Harness Racing Club Community Day, to ensure they show their support for a great cause.
