REGION - Residents are encouraged to help promote the Grampians region to potential visitors as part of Grampians Tourism's spring campaign called 'Instagrampians'.
The social media themed campaign utilises the popular photo sharing platform, Instagram, to spread the word about the diversity of the region by encouraging users to enter a competition to win great prizes.
Since early September, the campaign has attracted more than 1700 images being posted and tagged "Grampiansinspring". Another highlight was a visit from landscape photographer and Australia's most followed instagrammer Lauren Bath.
During Lauren's visit, her images of the Grampians recorded over 186,000 likes and comments.
"InstaGrampians is a great opportunity to showcase that the Grampians region is more than a stunning National Park," Grampians Tourism chief executive officer, Will Flamsteed said.
"We have many other beautiful gardens and picnic spots, historical architecture, wineries and unique attractions. There are also many events from farmers markets to cycling events - activities that in themselves showcase the region too.
"Locals can get involved by uploading a picture on instagram, following @thegrampians and tagging #grampiansinspring. They can then add more tags highlighting a particular event, business or area where the photo was taken.
"For those not using instagram, we regularly post selected images on our Visit Grampians Facebook page, which I encourage everyone to follow also."
The campaign runs until the end of November. For more information see www.instagrampians.com.au
The Grampians tourism region encompasses the local government areas of Ararat and Horsham Rural Cities, Pyrenees, Northern and Southern Grampians Shire Councils.
