STAWELL - Christine McWilliams has just completed her first year as Chaplain at Skene Street Specialist School in Stawell.
Christine works at the school on a Monday and Wednesday and is available to assist and work with students, their families and staff.
Mrs Williams has become very involved in activities and programs and has become a very valued member of the school community.
As a Chaplain Christine provides confidential pastoral care to the entire school community.
She is able to advocate and/or mediate for people within a restorative framework.
Christine has provided support in situations of emergency and/or crisis at Skene Street School during the past year that has been appreciated by all concerned.
Mrs McWilliams has been involved in other activities including:
Supported families with the facilitation of referrals to local support services and agencies.
Provided programs for senior students in social and life skill development, bringing into the school many local businesses to assist.
Introduced a music program and a school choir.
Currently holding morning teas for parents/guardians of students to come and chat and get to know each other. These are being planned for each student group within the school.
Writing a weekly entry in the school newsletter informing parents of her activities within the school.
