HALLS GAP - TripAdvisor has named the Halls Gap Zoo among ten of the top wildlife attractions in all of Australia.
The tourist hot spot which again proved a must for holiday makers last school holidays out ranked larger zoos including the high profile Taronga Zoo in Sydney and even Perth zoo.
The Halls Gap Zoo was listed eighth with the Werribee Open Range Zoo and Melbourne Zoo the only other Victorian attractions of the similar nature to make the list.
Reviews and ratings by TripAdvisor travellers from around the world help to compile the list with the experiences they have shared.
The zoo has so far received more than 100 reviews from members of the community; some from as far away as the Netherlands and Italy, with the majority of them describing their experience as either excellent or very good.
Owner Yvonne Culell said the honour was 'pretty cool' given the wide range of people from all corners of the globe that contribute to reviews on the site.
"I think it shows that we have what people are looking for. It shows it is not just the look people are after, it is the entire experience," she said.
Mrs Culell said the school holidays had again been a winner for visitors who made the most of the improving Spring weather.
"Obviously on those days where the weather was horrible things slowed but when people were looking for things to do we provided an answer."
Mrs Culell said people continue to enjoy what the zoo has to offer with visitors of all ages fascinated by animals including the meercats, giraffe and dingoes.
And the zoo has an exciting few months ahead as it takes possession of a couple of female spider monkeys and a Gila Monster- a venomous lizard from South America.
